Scaling new heights!

Dunmurry Dental Practice and its owner Philip McLorinan has had yet another clean sweep at The Dentistry Awards in the UK by winning Best Practice, Best Team and Best Young Dentist in Northern Ireland.

Now in their fourth successful year, these prestigious nationwide awards, aim to recognise outstanding individuals, teams and practices in the dental world that are top of their profession. The awards attract over 500 entries annually, cover nine UK regions and are judged by a highly respected and experienced team of twelve judges.

In 2008 Dunmurry Dental Practice was the first and only practice in the UK to have walked away with all three coveted regional titles and now in 2009 they have repeated this outstanding achievement. Dunmurry Dental Practice has also been awarded Best Practice in their region for the last three consecutive years.

These latest accolades clearly demonstrate the drive and determination that the team at this local Dental Practice has in being top of its game. In addition, Dunmurry Dental Practice will soon undergo a six figure sum expansion which will see it double in size from a three to six surgery Practice with a large reception area and increased car parking. This will also enable this busy and popular South Belfast Dental Practice to accept new NHS patients from Summer 2010.

Philip McLorinan, Owner and Principal Dentist commented ‘Winning these three awards once again is a great tribute to the dedication and commitment of our hardworking team and the practice we have built in Dunmurry. 2010 is a particularly important and exciting year for us as we will soon begin work on our expansion which will ultimately enable us to grow and develop our team and of course to provide dental care to more patients!’

Investor in People award

Dunmurry Dental Practice has been recognised as an Investor in People (IIP) after achieving the standard in January 2009. Employment Minister, Sir Reg Empey presented the award to the Practice and other organisations at a recent celebration event held in Hillsborough Castle.

Sir Reg congratulated Dunmurry Dental Practice and other receiving awards and added: “The uptake of IiP in Northern Ireland is an encouraging sign for the local economy, and should serve as an example to other employers not yet capitalising on the bottom-line business benefits of IiP. We tend to forget that businesses are, in essence, people, and the importance of local businesses investing in their people is particularly relevant at this difficult time for industry.”

IiP has long been acknowledged as an important international marque of good business practice. It is a business improvement tool that helps organisations of every size, type and location to compete and succeed through improved people performance.
