New Patients
As a new Denplan Patient we welcome you to the Practice for your first appointment.
In advance of your appointment you will be emailed Confidential Medical History form for you to complete. This is to provide us with information which may be relevant to your Dental treatment. It is not normally necessary for us to have access to your previous dental records so please don’t worry about them. You will then be shown to the waiting area where you may relax, read magazines and watch our informative plasma screen.
You will be informed by the receptionist when the dentist is ready for you and they will direct you to the surgery. At the first visit we feel it is more important to get to know you and establish a good relationship therefore unless there is any emergency treatment necessary we confine our first visit to a discussion of your Dental needs (if any), the taking of a history and a thorough Dental examination together with any necessary x-rays.
The Dentist will then discuss with you any treatment options identified during the examination and, if necessary, an appointment will be made. At the following consultation appointment we will explain our findings and recommendations with you. By explaining the options fully, we enable you to make an informed decision about the procedure which is right for you. Your treatment plan will be discussed with you, including an estimate of costs, under either the NHS or Private scheme. Our normal policy is to ask patients to pay for their treatment as it is carried out as we operate a ‘pay as you go’ policy. Laboratory items will require advance payment.
After your treatment is complete we will agree together how often your routine examination and hygienist appointment will be. For most patients this will be every six / nine months. Please let us know of any condition requiring special attention or any changes in your health during treatment. We will make your check-up appointment at your last visit and you will then receive a text message reminder shortly before your appointment time. A fee will be charged if you do not attend your appointment or give us 24 hours notice of cancellation.
Please note our one way system in the car park, with entry from Kingsway and exiting out onto Barbour Gardens.
We appreciate your feedback at any time: we have comment cards at reception to record your comments, compliments and complaints or alternatively speak to any member of staff.
